Calling all Big and Small customers especially toddlers and teens! Big & Small Group General Santos is now on Search for the next Junior Fashionistas. Here are the Mechanics and details of the Contest which I acquired from their friendly staff. 

SEARCH FOR THE BIG & SMALL JUNIOR FASHIONISTAS

This contest is open to cute customers of Big & Small Group GenSan.

Contest Rules & Guidelines:

1.        Date: Contest period is from February 15 to April 30, 2012. Deadline of submission of entries is on March 15, 2012. All entries sent after the said date will not be included.

2.        Eligibility: Open to all Big & Small Group GenSan customers’ ages 3 months to 16 years old.

3.        Entry

Ø  Participants must fill out & submit the official entry form that can be downloaded through Big & Small Group GenSan fan page or get a copy from Big & Small Group GenSan store.

Ø  Take a trendy, cool and fashionable picture of your child wearing Big & Small, Orange Juice & Spin products that was purchased from our store beginning February 15 to March 15, 2012.

Ø  Contestants can only submit 1 entry.

6.        Voting: Voting  period is from March 20, 2012 to April 20, 2012. The computations of votes are as follows:

·          Every P100 purchase from Big & Small Group GenSan store from February 15, 2012 to March 15, 2012 corresponds to 5 votes. They will be given a coupon in which they can drop it in the box located at Big & Small Gensan store.

·        Every one vote or like (thumbs up) from facebook fan page of bigandsmall corresponds to 1 (one) vote. One must be a fan page member of Big & Small Group GenSan.

·         Store Votes will correspond to 70 % and Online (facebook) Votes correspond to 30 % of the over-all total of votes as combined.

The highest number of votes combined shall be declared as winners and their photo will be displayed initially at Big & Small Group GenSan window.

Should there be a tie. The committee judges will select the winner.

Back-to-Back School Building Turnover of SM Prime, SM Foundation and BDO in GenSan

Last February 21 and 22, 2012, a back-to-back school building turnover happened at GSC SPED Integrated Campus and Banisil National High school respectively.

This one of a kind event was initiated by SM Prime Holdings Inc., SM Foundation Inc. and BDO.

To give you a background of these three giant entities...

This One-storey, Two-classroom building complete with functional facilities such as Comfort Room, Wall Fans, Arm Chairs, Blackboards and the like was solely donated by SM Prime Holdings Incorporated thru SM Foundation Inc.

Although it rained on the first part of the program, the Turnover Ceremony went well. It is just a great feeling to see the smiles of the students and their teachers. Such scene is just priceless. 

The Second Turnover Ceremony happened on February 22, 2012, 10 AM, at Banisil National High School, Barangay Tambler, General Santos City.

The second turnover was initiated by SM Prime through SM Foundation Inc. and this time in partnership with one of SM's Banking and Finance Arm, BDO. The three giant entities donated a one-storey, four-classroom building complete with functional acilities such as Comfort Room, Wall Fans, Arm Chairs, Blackboards and the like.

The Back-to-Back School Building Turnover and Book Donations last February 21-22, 2012 is just the beginning of the activation of SM Foundation here in General Santos City. As the years go by, SM Supermalls will live by its Corporate Social Responsibility in helping out the community it serves.

My Personal Tips to Graduating College Students

Well, March is just around the corner and I already could envision thousands of togas to be worn and diplomas to be given away.

Of course, the competition and struggle doesn't end in the four corners of the campus hence it gets tougher in the outside world - the World of Employment. I know a few percentage of the graduates shall venture into self-employment and business. Majority will eventually land on a job. 

Therefore, I am giving away my personal tips to all Graduating college students out there. I may not be that kind of "experienced one" (Oops! I've been an employee for almost 2 years to date) but I'm sure my small tips could be a great starter to some of you.

1. Of course, the very BASIC ONE, "Never Assume Unless Stated". 

Which means, finish first all your Graduation requirements (maybe Academic or Extra-Curricular) before planning any Trips and Graduation Parties. Don't be too confident and easy-go-lucky. Remember, unless you don't have your name printed in the diploma, you are not an official Graduate yet. In bisaya, "AYAW KAAYO I-FEEL"!

2. Set Goals and target a Career

This is I think the most critical part after graduation... You need to know your goals. Try to ask yourselves, do I want to land on a job or do I want to own a business? You need to weigh things up. Being an employee and being self-employed is a whole new different aspect with pros and const. Discern and ask advice from your parents and close friends. You don't want to regret such in the end. Be practical and think 5 years ahead so that you could envision yourself to which path will you choose. 

3. Have a Break

C'mon! This is so true. You've been going to school since Nursery up to College. That's almost 20 years or more of your life. Why not allot even a month or several months after vacation. Go on a trip with your family and friends. Enjoy the moment of being finally free from the four corners of your school. Treat yourself.

4. Prepare your Resume and Requirements

Well, after you have taken a vacation or a break. You need to prepare your Comprehensive Resume and the basic requirements you will be needing in finding a job. Equip yourselves with such documents so that it would be an easy access for future jobs and employment opportunities out there. Make sure that your Resume is updated, the picture attached is colored and formal and the entries are complete, brief and reliable. Make sure also that you have fixed your School papers such as DIPLOMAS, Transcript of Records and the like. And also, print 5-10 copies of your resume. You would not just settle for a single job posting right?

5. Be more aggressive ONLINE.

If you have the resources such as the Internet and laptop, why not use it for Job Hunting. Instead of being on Facebook all day, try visiting online classified ads and job postings. There are thousands of job opportunities online if you just have the patience in finding one. There are some companies which requires online submission of resume so be sure to have a soft copy of it. The Online World is at its peak this century so it is better to use such technology in finding wonderful job opportunities.

6. Never expect a HIGH SALARY right away

This is I think the misconceptions of every fresh graduate out there. Lower your expectations guys. You are a fresh graduate. Therefore, your rate is far from those who are skilled and experienced one. You may be a graduate of a prestige school or may have be "LAUDE", but hey... you are all Fresh Graduates. You are likely to start from an average salary rate (depending on your job). Don't be too choosy. Always remember that millions of unemployed persons are out there dying to have a job. If you have the opportunity, grab it. Sooner, you'll be investing experiences and learning that would be a great help towards a greener pasture in the future.

These are just few of my personal tips to all future YUPPIES out there! Be confident. In the end, its not about the school and the honors you have acquired from college counts, its the thing called "DISKARTE"!

ÄLicensed Civil or Mechanical Engineer

ÄWith excellent communication skills and able to relate well with all levels in the organization; 

ÄProficient in computer software application.

(4) OFFICE ASSISTANTS

[ACCOUNTING & OPERATIONS]

Qualifications:

ÄGraduate of any four year course from a reputable college or university;

ÄWith excellent communication skills and able to relate well with all levels in the organization; and

ÄComputer literate.

 (1) VISUAL DISPLAY OFFICER

Qualifications:

ÄGraduate of Bachelor of Fine Arts from a reputable university, a major in Interior Design will be an advantage;

ÄTwo (2) years related supervisory experience in art-related works preferably with a retail business enterprise;

ÄComputer literate and Excellent communication skills.

 (1) PROPSMAN

Qualifications:

ÄUndergraduate of Fine Arts or Architecture or Drafting or any related vocational courses; and

ÄExperience in spray painting, airbrush, hand painting, lay outing, and drawing will be an advantage. Preferably Male.

(1) OPERATION SUPERVISOR

ÄGraduate of any four-year business course

ÄComputer literate, and 3 years work experience, preferably in food-related establishment.

MOVIE REVIEW: Segunda Mano (MMFF 2011)

Storyline

Mabel Domingo (Kris Aquino), the owner of a high-class, but creepy, antique shop, only wants herself and her mother to move on from the tragic past of losing her sister as she carries the guilt of causing her death. She meets Ivan Galvez (Dingdong Dantes), a rich and successful architect who only wants to find the perfect wife and mother for his young daughter Angel to finally have a complete and happy family after his ex-wife left for him for another man.

Since Ivan's proposal, Mabel is haunted by an unknown ghost who seems to endanger everyone around her. As the terror escalates, she discovers an unexpected twist that will test her love for Ivan.

REVIEW:

Being a Horror-fanatic, Segunda Mano is a big disappointment for me!

Well, this hugely staged and produced film by Star Cinema and Kris' and Dingdong's Film Outfit unfortunately added itself to the roaster of disappointments especially in the Pinoy Horror Genre. After a not-so-good reviews on "Dalaw", here comes another film of Kris that gets even worst every year. Indeed, nothing can beat those "Feng Shui" and "Sukob" days.

At first, I am having a little doubt on Director Joyce Bernal applying her craft on a horror one. Well, my doubt was right. With a shallow plot but good twists, Segunda Mano is an overrated film that leads nowhere.

I think the Major Problem of the film is that it lacks impact and scare factor compared to other Kris' films. The movie can be a lot a better than it is. The scare scenes didn't work out for me. The movie was partly boring and blank most of the time. Direk Joyce Bernal didn't play with every scene and it felt like it was just what you see is what you get technique. I mean, in a Horror film, the director must focus in every detail and factor that would send shivers down your spine.

The reason also why it did not look scarier that it should be is the Editing. Although, cinematography and film texture is undeniably good, the editing especially during the appearance of the ghost in every scene is an EPIC FAIL. They should have studied well Editing techniques in a Horror film since this is very vital in general.


Plot-wise, Segunda Mano is averagely-crafted. The reason why its average because it's kinda bloated at some point. Like, the "bag" thing started in nearly the 45-minute length. Some scenes could have been shorter and more haunting and scare scenes should have been added. The Climax, however, was good and full of suspense. I just had a little problem with the progression of the scenes from the first. 


The strength of Segunda Mano lies in its Cinematography and Casts. Cinematography in a sense that I love the film's texture, sound effects and arrangements. The Editing of the ghost during scare scenes was just the problem.


The Casting was also great and talented. I see a bigger improvement with Kris Aquino's acting. Dingdong Dante, on the otherhand, did a great portrayal as Kris' partner. He is just as charming as ever. Jhong Hilario and Helen Gamboa have both given a fair performance. The biggest surprise and the one that saved the film (for me) was Bangs Garcia. She was such a revelation in this film. I so love her portrayal and humor in the film.


Generally, Segunda Mano could have been better and scarier.
